JCE is still the only college in Israel to join a list of companies and universities that host the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) student interns in Israel in the MIT MISTI-Israel program, facilitating their internship in Jerusalem’s high-tech sector and providing a social setting. This year, Yotam Aron and Olivia Bishop are interning at AVX and Intel.

Congratulations to 142 engineers – JCE’s graduating class of 2010 who received their diplomas on July 28th. Distinguished guests at the event included JCE President Uzi Wexler, JCE’s Interim CEO, Shlomtzion Lulu, the CEO of AVX Israel Ltd. Arie Levin, and Major General Herzl Bodinger, former Commander in Chief of the Israeli Air Force and current President of Rada Electronic Industries who spoke to the new graduates about how he went from being a combat pilot that operated electronic systems to the other side of developing them.

JCE held its annual Board of Governors meeting at the College on July 15th. Seventeen new members joined the Board and JCE’s Campaign to build a New Campus was launched. The day continued with a tour of TEVA Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Jerusalem, and the announcement of TEVA and the Foundation for Development and Progress’ recent generous contributions to new laboratories at JCE in the amount of one million dollars each. The day’s events ended festively with a reception at the home of JCE President Uzi Wexler in which Professor Michael Oser Rabin was named Honorary Fellow.

On July 15th, 2010, as part of the College’s Board of Governor’s events, Professor Michael Oser Rabin received the College’s highest honor – Honorary Fellow of the Jerusalem College of Engineering (JCE). This title is bestowed onto exceptional individuals and organizations who are dedicated to bettering lives through education and furthering higher education and technology in Israel.
