The Jerusalem Cinematheque located oppsite the walls of the Old CIty, facing Mt. Zion and the Judean hills, is one of Israel's leading and most active cultural venues.
At the Cinematheque, we foster an appreciation of the cinematic arts, their development, and the preservation of film, focusing upon Israeli works and films dealing with variety of Jewish topics. The Cinematheque staff presents rich and varied programming in a monthly framework, as well as courses, workshops and theme series such as: Music and Film; Distant Lands a Journey Around the World in film; Jerusalem and the land of Israel; Traditions of the Jewish People. These are but a few of the wonderfully varied cinematic experiences preasented on the Cinematheque's big screens. |

The Archives house films in celluloid and video formats, many quite rare, both feature-length and shorts, dating from the end of the 19th to the 21st century. It is truly a treasure - trove of fascinating materials. These rare archival treasures are among the materials available to you at the Jerusalem Cinematheque. Every summer in July, the Cinematheque and indeed, all of Jerusalem, host the celebrated Jerusalem Film Festival, a major international event offering numerous exciting experiences to those attending. During Hanukah holiday, the Jewish Film Festival provides another exciting international gathering. Now, you can hold your workshops, gatherings for company management and employees, and private events at the Cinematheque, all with a magical touch of film in a dramatic Jerusalem setting. |

The recently renovated building houses four new halls equipped with the finest projection facilities for film and video screenings, with professional quality Dolby Digital surround sound, lighting and amplification systems, and huge screens. There is also a fine restaurant and marvelous garden with a spacious lawn for receptions and parties; meeting halls; a gallery for exhibits; and a library. The Cinematheque building has two elevators and offers convenient access to the handicapped. |
