  Recently the Israel Trade & Tourism Commission held a well-attended Beautiful Israel Breakfast Seminar in Sydney to educate Australian travel professionals on the uniqueness of Israel. We thank all of those who joined us at the seminar as well as our event partners who showcased their travel package options: Adventure World, Bunnik Tours, El Al Israel airlines, Greece & Mediterranean Travel Centre, International Destinations, Israel Travel Centre, Sun Island Tours, Tempo Holidays and Timeless Tours & Travel.

Israel tourist arrivals continue to rise 

 Figures covering the first half of 2011 show that 1.9 million tourists entered Israel in January-July 2011, a 4% increase on the corresponding months of 2010. As 2010 was considered a record year in the number of tourist arrivals to Israel (3.45 Million), the figures for the first half of 2011 are promising. Click to read the full story
An incoming tourism survey conducted by the Ministry for 2010 shows that high marks were given by tourists to the archeological sites, night life, personal security and accommodation.

Tel Aviv "Art Year"

  Tel Aviv-Jaffa has declared the year 2012 as “Art Year”.This project is the cultural highlight of 2012 in the city, which chose this year’s theme following the inauguration of the New Tel Aviv Museum of Art's new building and the general prosperity of culture and art in the city and its metropolitan area.   Israel's Gardens- Making the desert bloom

  Despite chronic water shortages, Israel has some spectacular landscaped gardens that attract visitors from all over the world. But the miracle of turning the desert green extends beyond agriculture. Despite chronic water shortages, Israel's soil supports meticulously landscaped and riotously colorful public gardens. The following list explores the public gardens dotting the Holy Land. On the top of the list is the spectacularly maintained Baha'i Gardens in Haifa, designated UNESCO World Heritage sites, which welcome more than half a million visitors every year.   Going naked to save the Dead Sea

 Spencer Tunick gathered 1,000 volunteers to pose in the buff at the Dead Sea to bring attention to the ecologically troubled site. Apart from the artistic element, Tunick also hoped the event would call attention to the ecological woes of Israel's mineral-rich sea, the lowest point on earth. The Dead Sea is a finalist in the New Seven Wonders of the World contest, and Tunick figured the raw shoot couldn't help but raise its public profile as its water level is sinking.

  Israman Triathlon 2012

   “Israman”, the gruelling Iron Man competition that is ranked as one of the top 10 most challenging long triathlons in the world, will take place on January 20, 2012 in the coastal resort town of Eilat, Israel. The full Israman competition includes a 3.8 km swim, a 180 km bike ride followed by a 42.2 km run and, for those looking for a lesser but still formidable challenge, the Half Israman includes a 1.8 km swim, a 90 km bike ride and a 21.1 km run.
