The School participated in the "Tzamid" Festival and the annual "Hearing Day" at the Philip Leon Community Center in Jerusalem. We had a presentation showcasing to the visitors and residents of the neighborhoods what we do at the School and what is unique about us. Our activities also included four workshops for the general public storytelling in sign language, playing darbukut with the deaf schoolchildren, and a dance and a craft workshop. In addition, we had a booth where we sold works of art made by the children. The day was very successful. The residents of the neighborhood especially enjoyed the debka performance and the storytelling in sign language. The School for the Deaf in Jerusalem was founded by "Alliance - Kol Israel Haverim" in 1930. Since then, it has been a unique educational facility for hearing impaired children and youth who suffer from mental and physical disabilities. Most of our students are from low income families from both the Jewish and Arab sectors of the Israeli society. This is why the school is known for being a model of co-existence and multi cultural activities.
